Why a Farmers Daughter is a Good Choice as Your Wedding Caterer

Farmers’ Daughters Make the Best Chefs & Wedding Caterers!

Hello, my name is Jacquie Keeley – the owner of Fabfoodforyou – and welcome to the latest instalment in
our blog series in which we bring you interesting facts, tips and know-how from the catering industry. Today we look at wedding catering and why hiring farmers’ daughters is always best for this all-important task.

Before I do that, let me tell you a little about my childhood…

I was born and raised on a farm in Sussex, helping out and ensuring everything ran smoothly as a family. From planting crops to raising livestock, farm life was second nature to me, giving me a deep appreciation for rural matters.

This experience also gave me a unique insight into the farming world and an understanding of what’s important and where to find the best local farm produce. It’s something that perfectly places me to take care of my customers’ wedding catering needs.

Cutting Out the Middle Man

My upbringing taught me that when you want to source the best local produce, you should deal directly with suppliers. So, rather than going to the butchers for the choicest meats, I deal with the suppliers and farmers directly, buying joints on the bone. Then, I instruct a trusted freelance butcher to cut the meat to my client’s exact specifications.

When you hire wedding caterers, you want to know where the produce comes from. Traceability and providence are easy when you source meat responsibly in this way.

The same applies to vegetables, meaning that it pays to know who to talk to and when. I source local vegetables as dictated by the seasons, but if the need arises and the wedding menu dictates it, I’m also able to source from other suppliers.

I’ve got you covered in this regard, too, as not only was I taught more than a thing or two during my formative years on the farm, but I’ve also complemented my skills with training from the best in the business.

I actually worked under and was trained by Jane Dunn, a master chef who appeared on TV with Rick Stein and went on to be given a Masterchef of Great Britain Award. As such, I’m able to create mouthwatering dishes for your wedding day from the finest ingredients anywhere!
